About Our Schools
Caludon Castle School
Caludon Castle is a school with strong values and high aspirations. It is a place where our students will grow, learn and achieve in a mutually supportive and dynamic environment. Learning matters here and is at the heart of all that we do. We deliver a broad but personal curriculum for our students; enjoying the rich experiences our combined creative, cultural, vocational and foundation subjects can unlock. It is our intention to tap into and celebrate our students’ passions and potential through the highest quality of learning and teaching. We do this in partnership with our students of all ages and enjoy the benefits of talking about learning and refining our expertise in developing confident, resilient and independent learners.
We are fortunate to have superb facilities here at Caludon which provide modern and professional learning spaces and resources for every subject. In addition to this, we use digital technology smartly, investing in the creative and transformative potential of the use of IPads and interactive platforms.
The support of our students also goes beyond the academic. Our pastoral teams are dedicated to supporting our young people so that they feel safe and happy at school, form good friendships and understand and embody our values of respect, kindness and inclusion. We enjoy the diversity of our school community and, whilst we encourage a pride in being a part of the Caludon Castle School, we also encourage a celebration of what makes us unique and individual.
A student’s time at Caludon should be defined by more than attending their lessons. Our students will belong to a House (Devonish, Maddison or Smith) and participate in house competitions and celebrations; they can join clubs and societies to pursue their interests beyond the classroom and they will be encouraged to invest in their leadership skills through our student leadership pathways.
Caludon Castle School is fortunate to be part of a successful multi-academy trust with a strong leadership culture for both staff and students. As well as attracting and developing excellent professionals, our school community also has much to share as we collaborate with partner schools realising opportunities to continually learn and grow. Our students will benefit from this outward looking approach through which our own future leaders will no doubt emerge!
We are very proud of our leading-edge training programmes which we offer in support of Initial Teacher Training. Applying for a School Direct place through the Castle Phoenix Alliance will guarantee an exceptional teacher training experience in a school rated as ‘Good’ in 2019 by Ofsted, with an excellent record of teacher training.
Foxford School
Student learning is at the centre of everything we do at Foxford Community School. We aim to give our students an engaging and progressive learning experience so that they can achieve in their future pathways. We endeavour to develop independent, resilient young people; igniting a passion and curiosity for learning.
Our teaching is underpinned by Tharby & Allison’s ‘Making Every Lesson Count’ and our learning and teaching philosophy is underpinned by six key principles:
- Challenge so that students have high expectations of what they can achieve.
- Explanation so that students acquire new knowledge and skills.
- Modelling so that students are able to apply their new knowledge and skills.
- Questioning so that students think hard with depth, breadth and accuracy.
- Feedback so that students think about and further develop their knowledge and skills.
- Practice so that students engage in deliberate practice of their skills and knowledge.
Our aim is to support all students as they strive for excellence through our TIF (Take it Further) strategies which are embedded into lessons. We support, collaborate and propel our students towards excellence so that there is no ceiling on ambition or achievement. Our lesson ‘unstucks’ challenge students to find solutions if they require additional support.
Our teachers are trained in the delivery of each principle and are supported by our Learning & Teaching Group who are experts in each principle. We have also introduced our Four Principles of Great Learning which are the qualities we expect to be fostered in our students:
- Challenge
- Ownership
- Dialogue
- Engagement
Students are supported to understand their role in these Learning Elements through the Say Yes to Learning Programme and through half-termly Learning Assemblies.
Our developmental Quality Assurance Programme is built around each of these principles through which we are able to diagnose development needs and acknowledge areas of expertise. Any review of Learning & Teaching starts with the identification of the Learning Elements in action which allows for a teaching principle/s to be agreed for development.
Our online learning platform – Firefly – helps our students to manage their learning both in school and at home. It allows students to view lesson activities and to extend their progress through home learning tasks. Students also make use of Hegarty Maths, Lexonik Literacy and GCSE Pod to develop their subject skills through technology.
Learning doesn’t just happen in the classroom: we also extend our students’ experiences outside the classroom with a range of visits and clubs to develop their skills, interests and talents. In school, we have a suite of IT classrooms, fully equipped science laboratories and a school library where additional learning takes place. We use examples of student learning in classrooms and lessons so that excellence is showcased and valued.
At Foxford, we also acknowledge that our teachers are continually learning and offer an extensive and personalised programme of Continued Professional Development and Learning. Twice weekly CPDL sessions are offered as well as whole school CPDL. All of our teachers participate in coaching triads to support each other in their reflection and development. Every term we complete a Coaching Cycle where each member of teaching staff has a dedicated coach who is invited into classrooms to review the learning taking place. From that, our diagnostic tool – the six principles – is used to agree a focus principle for development. Professional development is now at the heart of learning and teaching here at Foxford.
We have an established Learning & Teaching Group: a team of expert practitioners who lead on all things learning and teaching here at Foxford. This is a fantastic opportunity for professional development as each member of the team is completing both the Great Teacher Programme and Coaching CPD. This expertise is now being shared across the school as the team deliver CPD on their allocated teaching principle and are now offering in-faculty support. New members to the group are always welcome if you love learning and teaching and want to share your expertise. You will see that there is certainly a buzz about learning and teaching here at Foxford and we’d love you to be part of that.
Learning really is at the heart of all we do.

Curriculum
Hill Farm is a happy, vibrant school that offers a broad and rich curriculum which encourages creativity and resilience whilst promoting aspiration and ambition.
The friendly and caring staff at Hill Farm, are proud to be supported by the Castle Phoenix Trust in providing children with an exciting, challenging and opportunity rich learning experience that celebrates the differences and diversity in our school.
Our curriculum is stimulating and challenging and actively encourages children to discover their talents and passions. At its core, the curriculum emphasises the importance of deepening children’s understanding through the provision of increased cognitive challenge. This combined with opportunities to apply prior knowledge to new learning enables our pupils to become confident, enthusiastic learners that will go on to excel in their chosen field.
We believe our strength lies in the extensive provision offered, not only the quality of our teaching and learning but in the all-encompassing range of trips, activities and extra-curricular opportunities available. Our aim is for every child, regardless of circumstance or background to experience a childhood filled with happy memories of school and a love of learning that takes them into adulthood.
The curriculum and extracurricular activities are explicitly and carefully planned to provide pupils with ‘101 experiences’ that broaden their horizons, raise their aspirations and prepare them for life after primary school. (Ofsted 2019)
Character
Hill Farm is an accredited Values based Education (VbE) school. Our values are threaded through all we do as we teach and inspire children and adults to adopt and live positive human values to create an exceptional environment for teaching and learning. The focus on ethical and emotional intelligence, deepened relationships and a strong values-culture give pupils the best chance of academic success. Children are taught to study effectively, be resilient to setbacks and take pride in their achievements.
Pupils enjoy learning. They are polite, well-mannered and welcoming … and readily talk about values such as resilience, celebration and tolerance. (Ofsted 2019)
Community
We take pride in working closely with our families to create strong relationships that support our pupils both in and out of school. We are fortunate to have a dedicated Safeguarding and Family Support Team who are able to assist children and families and we regularly hold curriculum activities, celebration events, sporting, art and musical performances where parents are encouraged and welcomed to work with their children in school.
Leaders are working hard to involve parents in their children’s education. Parents told inspectors that they value the parents’ forum that has been set up this year and the opportunity it gives them to share their views of the school with staff. In the early years, leaders regularly invite parents into school to share learning experiences with their children.

Richard Lee School
At Richard Lee we believe that every individual child deserves to be proud of who they are and proud of their achievements by the time they leave us. It is incredibly important to us that every member of our school community is following our school mission of ‘Be the Best you can be!’ We are diverse, we are inclusive, we are ambitious and we have high expectations for all of our children. All children should have access to high quality teaching and learning and be proud of themselves – this is our core purpose!
We have a passion for ‘Reading’ as this unlocks the door and enables our learners to engage with all other subject areas. We also have a growing focus on ‘Oracy’ with a commitment to ensuring that children become confident communicators in order to be successful as they journey from school into their future lives. Our wide and vibrant curriculum ensures that every child has a breadth of experiences across a range of subject areas and can find the area they love and can grow passionate about. Enrichment activities such as visits, visitors, residentials, enhanced learning opportunities in school and extra-curricular clubs and events are critical in ensuring our children extend their learning beyond the classroom. There is so much in life to explore and learn – we do our best to provide as much as we can!
Our wonderful school is a hidden gem tucked away in the heart of Wyken and we have an enviable school building, only 7 years old.
